How To Select A Baseball Fielding Glove

Experienced ball players know just how important the right baseball fielding glove is for the position. For example, infielders have to get the ball out of their glove quickly, for the fast action of double plays. A smaller size baseball glove helps. 11″ to 12″ baseball gloves are ideal for the infield. My recommendations are as follows:

  • First base mitt for 1st Base
  • 11″ for 2nd Base
  • 12″ for 3rd Base
  • 11-1/2″ for Shortstop

Outfielders usually prefer 12″ to 13″ sizes. Since they cover a lot of ground, good glove “reach” is important. Youth gloves correspond roughly to the child’s age.

They range from 9 W’ to 10″ for T-Ball, and up to 12″ for the more seasoned youth baseball players.
